Despite being on a major label, these guys are pretty much only going to be an indie-type band. And they have put out a really great, yet disappointing record. Their Pixies-meets-Talking Heads-meets-The Smiths sound, which seems to be aped every day by dozens of bands, works for them. The first five tracks of this record are great, especially "My Coco." But then, the rest of the album is muddled and, sorry to say, a bit boring. Stand-out track is "Jenny," which is the biggest Pixies tribute since "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
