Say Anything : Say Anything Is a Real Boy (2004)
Doghouse Records : CD/LP (13 Songs) : www.sayanythingmusic.com

Say Anything Is a Real Boy opens with a short tape recorder monologue, where lead singer Max Bemis lets us know that he is a bit insecure. As he carries us through his "United States of Woe," delivers the most painful pronunciation of the word "foyer" ever put to tape, and suggests that we're "Passing Slow (whoaaaa ohhhh) Through A Vector," a little insecurity would be more than welcome. The only thing worse than severely uninspired lyrics is an extremely unconvincing performance, and Bemis's attempts at indie deadpan talking mixed with some quivering-throat screams excels at that as well.
